Perception is reality … a mantra I have believed in for a while now.
We ‘see’ and ‘hear’ each other through the lens of our own private stories, judgments and conclusions about the person in front of us. Our ‘reality’ or perception of the other person is often at odds with theirs. We all live in our little realities or worlds created by our carefully crafted and self satisfying stories.
As I reflect, it amazes me at how little the people I work and interact with daily (colleagues, friends and acquaintances) really know or understand about me. The same must be true of me to them.
So if we are all living in a world of perceived realities, where is the real world and is there such a thing as objective or absolute truth?
